Joe Dimaggio Children's Hospital

Summary

Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital (JDCH) is located in Hollywood, FL and includes approximately 180,000 SF of building area that connects with the Memorial Regional Hospital (MRH) located across the street through a glass pedestrian skywalk. The project included renovation of approximately 15,000 SF of existing space located on the 1st thru 4th floor of the existing tower and an additional 155,817 SF of new floors situated on top of the existing tower. The expansion also included new private and semi-private rooms and focused on relocating and consolidating critical care pediatric services from the 4th Floor at MRH to the new dedicated pediatric hospital. The new JDCH bed tower vertical expansion added four levels to the existing building for a total of eight levels. The expansion included pediatric and adolescent units, pediatric rehabilitation nursing units, pediatric coronary critical units, pediatric intermediate care unit (IMCU) and a cardiovascular surgical and cardiac catheterization lab services unit. The scope of the project also included the relocation of the administrative suite on the existing level 2 to the new level 7 of the expansion, The space in level 2 will be renovated to have a new magnetic imaging (MRI) exam suite, associated to an intraoperative MRI (IMRI) operating room expansion to the existing surgical services unit and one additional operating room. There is also minor renovation on levels 1 thru 4. Moses Engineering was hired as a third-party Commissioning Authority (CA) to test the new construction and verify that the owner receives what they paid for. The commissioning scope included all the existing and new systems for the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm, medical air, stairwell pressurization and building automation system.
